Back Talking

In my very short experience like a teacher,
I could say that the management of your class is just the first step to succeed
as a teacher. Now I’m teaching children around 7-8 years old, they’re very
lovely but, not everything is pink with them. One day I was trying to give
instructions for an activity while one of my students was laughing of one of
his classmates, of course that distract my other students and they were not
paying attention of what I was saying.
Honestly that pits me off but I breathe, relax and turn my face to the little
boy that was laughing and asked:” Are you ok?” he immediately stops laughing
and respond “ammm… Yes” so I said “ok perfect so now I can continue with my
class, right?” I had no oral response to that but, he stopped laughing and
turns his face to me and I continued with the class.
Our first goal as a teacher is to make our
students learn, but in this case of younger learners we have to be able to
manage the situation before start teaching. For me is important to relax and be
calm, because the more you continue argue the more big the problem becomes.
Just let them know what their mistakes are you don’t have to say too much just
be clear and firm. Sometimes you don’t have to say anything, one silence or a
look and they’ll understand.
Hope this help

Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy
December 1, 2011
Talking about teachers, they are the ones who guide students to succeed.
So, teachers need to help students become producers of knowledge, in
this case of language. Teachers may create a comfortable environment
that allows them engage their thinking. Bloom’s taxonomy provides ways
to organize thinking skills in students; these are easily applied to all levels of school.
In my routine as a teacher, I would say that bloom’s taxonomy can help me
to build a “perfect” plan for my class. It provides me a bunch of interesting
resources of activities I can apply to develop my students thinking and at the
same time encourage them to practice their new language. Actually it makes
easy to me to plan different classes.
Phonetics
November 22, 2011
Before knowing phonology and phonetic symbols, I could say that for me it was difficult in sometimes to pronounce words. Actually I asked myself, what are these little symbols that are next to the words in the dictionary? I wasn’t familiar with them, but now that I know everything change. So, now I’m able to be a little more fluent when I talk, because i know how to pronounce words. It’s amazing. Finally I just can say: ɛndʒɔj wɪθ mi fənɛtɪks.
Why grammar?
November 22, 2011
Now days more people may agree with this, why we have to learn grammar? It is so difficult,
and most of us hate it. But here I have some of the reasons to explain why grammar
is important. As we can see since our ancestors, we had the necessity of communicate, and when we communicate we use grammar we are producing grammar even if it is just simple sentences or just words. When we use grammar in a complex way we are able to be clearer, so people can understand us better. Also when we write or speak with a good use of grammar we can see that the things become interesting. After this, I just can say thatgrammar turn us in more interesting, clear and increase our capacities.

Motivation…
October 22, 2011
Been honest, I had my reflection ready for the post, but after saw the post in
Ellen’s blog; I decided to change it. Now I just don’t know at this point how
to change or how to start teaching in a different way. I will probably start
by being their guide, and let them discover the language by their own; and
avoid telling them what to do, like a sergeant. Involve students in foreign language.
When I opened my anthology for the first time, I read something that impressed me.
Is a Chinese proverb that said “Tell me and forget. Show me and remember. Involve
me and I understand”. Let the students come in into the environment of learning
by let them think, decide, discover, encourage them. They all have factors that keep
them motivated. Why don’t we push them to achieve them? We have to make
students feel confident that way they’ll probably improve they autonomy
and independence. Hope this work.
FOTOBABBLE :3
October 14, 2011
It is a very interesting and fun application. I would apply it for listening and practice speaking. For example in advanced learners I could ask them to choose a photo and narrate a story about that picture (make a fotobabble). A fotobabble is an application that we could use by picking a picture, then you have to record your voice telling a story or a description and finally you share it. This way we can make our students practice their pronunciation, stand up speech and speaking. For beginners I could apply it for develop their listening skill and pronunciation. I could look for some fotobabbles and make them listen to them. To make the students comprehend and learn new vocabulary in a very fun way. And the best thing of it is that you can share it with all the people around the world.
Receptive skill!!

Some of us when we were younger didn’t have teachers who taught us that reading is very important; and because of it, the majority of us don’t like to read. We think it is boring or we can’t find the sense of doing it. Maybe we used to hate reading stuff when we were kids, and through the years we just learned to love it. This weekend in class we learned how literature circles, improved the attention of students when they read or we ask them read something in class, even if they don’t like to do it. Literature circles are about sitting students in small groups, and each person has a particular role for example; find the key words, draw pictures and make questions about the topic and this way every student has a different motivation to read. Then they have to change the role. They may skim, scan, read for detail, read for gist, and have intensive or extensive reading for answering their specific task in their own role. This way the students work out their knowledge and we develope different skills and sub skills in students. It is a very helpful way to manage big groups, and evaluate the students. Finally I think that by doing this exercise in class we encourage students to work in teams, develope skills and make different and fun class. Then they feel motivated to do it for pleasure.
rubric..!!
October 6, 2011
Hello everyone let’s talk about rubrics. For being honest I had no idea what a rubric was and now I’m surprise with it. Of course I can apply it in my class to make the students know why they have those grades. For my students will be interesting and they may be more engage with their work. They can see the aspects and how I give them a grade and they also will try to accomplish the terms. I will apply rubric for writing and comprehension about different topics. In behavior I may use it but I’m not sure of it. About all the teachers I had I think, no one apply this tool to grade me and now I know that disappoint me. But it’s too late to think in the past so now me as a teacher I will use it. Its a great tool.
